Frequently asked questions

Short answers to common questions. Each answer links to the help topic or step-by-step guide with more detail.

About the service

  • What is SIDHARTHAN?

SIDHARTHAN is a student wellness app. It brings together ragging reporting, drug abuse reporting, counselling support and Mingle Time. Students can also send an SOS to their campus responders.

  • Who can use it?

Students and their parents or guardians whom their institution has enrolled, and staff whom their institution has given access.

Your institution sets up your access. If you need an account or your number has changed, contact your institution.

  • Who can I contact about SIDHARTHAN?

Contact your institution for sign-in or profile help. For your private-request PIN, contact your university.

For general questions about the initiative, contact the Kerala State Higher Education Council.

  • Can students or parents sign in on this website?

No. Students and parents sign in and use SIDHARTHAN through the mobile app, which is where reporting, SOS, counselling and My Requests work. Sign-in on this website is for staff only.

  • Where can I download the app?

The Google Play and App Store listings are not published yet. Download links will appear on this website once they are. Until then, ask your institution about access to the app.

Signing in

  • How do I sign in to the app?

Choose Student / Parent, enter your registered mobile number and then the 6-digit sign-in code sent to that number.

Signing in ends any previous login, so you are signed in on one device at a time.

  • What if I cannot sign in or my number has changed?

Your institution sets up your access. If you need an account or your number has changed, contact your institution.

  • I forgot my My Requests PIN. What should I do?

Need help with your PIN? Contact your university. Only an authorised university officer can arrange a reset.

SOS and reporting

  • Will people know that I made a report?

The service knows who submits the report. Confidential hides your identity from usual review screens.

Confidential is the default. You can instead choose to request to share your identity.

  • What happens after I send a report?

You get a request ID. Your institution should review your concern and record its first response within 24 hours of receiving it. Every request is different, and the recorded steps and decision appear in My Requests.

  • What if my concern is not resolved?

An unresolved concern moves to university review, then district review, then state oversight.

These are service targets, not guaranteed resolution times or legal deadlines. Counselling and care requests follow care-team arrangements instead.

  • Can I add information after sending a report?

Yes. Use “Add an update” on the request. Add something you missed or tell the team what has changed. Your original request stays as you sent it.

  • Can I appeal a decision?

For a closed ragging or drug abuse report, yes. You can appeal. Your request opens again and the committee records its remarks. A request can be appealed up to three times.

Counselling, parents and privacy

  • Who sees my counselling request?

The counsellor who accepts this request will see who asked and the student’s name, course and phone number, so they can contact you. Other staff do not see them.

  • Is there a deadline for counselling requests?

No fixed timeframe applies. Counselling and care requests follow care-team arrangements instead.

Your care team will arrange support with you. Find replies and appointment updates in My Requests.

  • Can parents see their child's requests?

Your reports stay behind your secret PIN. Your children's own requests stay private unless they choose to share one with you.

  • What is Mingle Time?

Connect, share, ask questions and support each other in moderated, text-only rooms. Your institution sets up the rooms. Mingle Time is not part of the parent app.
