Terms
Terms of Use
These terms apply to the SIDHARTHAN mobile app, the staff workspace and this website. SIDHARTHAN is an initiative of the Kerala State Higher Education Council, designed and built by CDIPD, Digital University Kerala. By using the service you agree to these terms.
SIDHARTHAN is not an emergency service
For an immediate threat to safety, call 112. An SOS in this app alerts your campus responders; it does not call emergency services.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, move to safety if you can and contact emergency services directly.
Who can use the service
- Students and parents or guardians enrolled or linked by a participating institution, through the mobile app.
- Staff given access by their institution, through the staff side of the app and the staff workspace on this website.
Accounts are not created by users. If your details are wrong or your number has changed, contact your institution.
Your account
- Use only your own account and registered mobile number. Do not share sign-in codes or your My Requests PIN.
- Signing in on one device ends your previous login.
- Tell your institution if you think someone else has used your account. For a forgotten PIN, contact your university.
Reporting and asking for help
- Make reports honestly and in good faith. Share what you know and do not guess names.
- Use SOS for urgent help on or around campus. Do not send false alerts.
- A committee can record a report as false or unsupported after reviewing it.
- What you send is kept as you sent it. You can add updates, but you cannot delete a submitted report.
What to expect after you send a request
Requests are handled by people at your institution and, for concerns that stay unresolved, by university, district and state review teams. The app does not decide who is at fault, and each request is handled on its own facts.
These are service targets, not guaranteed resolution times or legal deadlines. Counselling and care requests follow care-team arrangements instead.
You can appeal a closed ragging or drug abuse decision up to three times.
Mingle Time rooms
Rooms are created and moderated by your institution. In every room:
- Be kind and respectful. No ragging, bullying, threats or hate.
- Text only: no photos, audio, files or attachments.
- Never share phone numbers, addresses or other contact details.
- Share only links you trust. Links open outside the app after you confirm.
- Long-press a message to report it to the room’s moderators. Moderators can delete messages that break these rules.
- Everything you post is visible to current members of the room, including people who join later.
- For a personal concern or an emergency, use Report or SOS from Home instead.
Moderators can hide messages that break these rules, and your institution can remove access to rooms.
Staff responsibilities
- Use the access your institution gives you only for your role and the requests assigned to you.
- Reveal a reporter’s details only when your work needs it, and keep what you see confidential.
- Record actions and decisions accurately; the service keeps a record of access and changes.
Availability and changes to the service
The service may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance or when a network or provider is down. If you cannot reach it in an emergency, call 112.
Features may change as the service develops. When these terms change, this page is updated and its version and date change.
Questions
For your account, a report or a counselling request, contact your institution. For general questions about SIDHARTHAN, see the contact page.
This document describes how the service works today. Formal legal review is pending; the Council will publish any revised version here.
