How it works

How SIDHARTHAN works

Short step-by-step guides to each service. SOS, reporting and counselling take different routes, so each has its own flow. What you see in the app depends on your request, and each one is handled on its own merits.

Students and parents

Getting started

Your institution gives you access. Everything else happens in the mobile app.

From enrolment to your first request

  1. Your institution enrols youIt adds students, links parents or guardians and registers your mobile number. There is no sign-up.
  2. Get the appInstall SIDHARTHAN on your phone. Store links will appear on this website once published.
  3. Sign in with your numberChoose Student / Parent, enter your registered mobile number and the 6-digit code sent to it.
  4. Set your secret PINThe first time you open My Requests: Choose four digits for your private requests. This is separate from your sign-in code.
  5. Choose what you needHome has SOS at the top, then reporting, counselling support and, for students, Mingle Time.

Urgent help

Sending an SOS

Alert your campus responders. For immediate emergency services, call 112.

From tapping SOS to responders following up

  1. Tap SOS“SOS · I need urgent help” is at the top of Home. Parents send it about their child.
  2. Add what you canOptional. A few words or a voice message help responders.
  3. Share where you areShare a one-time location so responders can find you. Shared for one hour when you send SOS. You can add a landmark instead.
  4. Responders are alertedYour SOS is saved and alerts go to your institution’s responders. The app shows your request ID.
  5. Follow their responseMy Requests shows updates such as “Responder accepted your request”, “Responder is en route” and “Responder marked arrival”.

For an immediate threat to safety, call 112. An SOS in this app alerts your campus responders; it does not call emergency services.

  • SOS saved. Staff alerts have been requested. This does not confirm that someone has seen it.

Ragging and drug abuse

Reporting a concern

Reports of ragging, drug supply, pressure to use or other drug-related safety concerns go to your institution’s response team and committee.

Sending a report

  1. Choose a report“Report Ragging” or “Report Drugs” on Home.
  2. Tell us what happenedWrite or record your voice, choose what kind of incident it was and add up to three files if you want.
  3. Review and chooseCheck your report and choose how your identity is handled. Confidential is the default.
  4. Send and get a request IDQuote this request ID when you contact your institution.

After you send it

  1. A team member was assignedYour institution arranges who will respond.
  2. Your safety needs were reviewedThe team looks at safety needs, and urgent support should begin without waiting.
  3. The team recorded a responseYour institution should record its first response within 24 hours of receiving your report.
  4. A review decision was recordedThe institution’s committee reviews the request and records its decision. Outcomes differ from request to request.
  5. Your request was closedYou see the closure in My Requests. If you disagree, you can appeal.
  • Not every request goes through every step, and each outcome depends on the request. My Requests shows only what has actually been recorded.
  • Choosing “I need help with my own use” or “I am worried about a friend” under Report Drugs goes to the care team instead, like counselling.

Service timeframes

If a concern stays unresolved

These are service timeframes for concern reports. Urgent safety support should begin without waiting.

Review levels for concern reports

  1. Level 1Institution · 24 hoursYour institution should review your concern and record its first response within 24 hours of receiving it.
  2. Level 2University review · 7 daysAn unresolved concern moves to university review. Its 7-day period starts when the handover is recorded.
  3. Level 3District review · 14 daysIf still unresolved, it moves to district review. Its 14-day period starts at that handover.
  4. Level 4State oversightUnresolved concerns then move to state oversight. There is no fixed response period at this stage.
  • Weekends count. A reply does not stop an unresolved concern from moving forward. The timeline shows a handover only after it has happened. A university handling its own students has separate first-response and review teams.
  • These are service targets, not guaranteed resolution times or legal deadlines. Counselling and care requests follow care-team arrangements instead.

Care and wellbeing

Asking for counselling

Counselling requests, and requests for help with drug or alcohol use, go to your institution’s care team.

From your request to support

  1. Choose “Other Support”Students ask for themselves. Counselling is private to your child. They can ask for it themselves from Other Support in their own SIDHARTHAN app.
  2. Pick your topicsChoose all that fit. You can talk through the details with your counsellor.
  3. Say how and whenA reply in the app, a phone call, in-person counselling or a scheduled session, at a time that suits you.
  4. A counsellor acceptsYour institution will assign a counsellor. The counsellor who accepts can see who asked, so they can contact you.
  5. Support is arrangedYour counsellor will confirm the appointment. Replies and appointment updates appear in My Requests.

The counsellor who accepts this request will see who asked and the student’s name, course and phone number, so they can contact you. Other staff do not see them.

  • Counselling and care requests follow care-team arrangements, with no escalation timeframe.
